Default Miniature RCAF Pilot Wing

Picked up this little guy over the weekend at a local show. Pleased as punch to find it!!! Does anyone have a picture of this particular style of wing in use?

Hi Rob,

Yes lovely find, looks to be in super condition too. Many thanks for sharing. Any idea what period it's from? I assume WWII ?

Mike, looking forward to the photo.

I have an early CAF cap badge (pre 'royal' - I think! ) due to arrive any day now, so watching the mail closely

Roy.

The miniature RAF wings are most common. I have seen the odd photo of them and RCAF ones being worn (not sure if I have one), but the miniature RAAF and RAF are more of a mystery. I have all four.

Yup, I've seen the RAF versions in use but not a RCAF so far. I'm assuming that American pilots that trained in Canada would get the RCAF version, no?

The wing has never been used but did you notice the rusty old straight pin stuck through the back of it?

Very nice mini wing. The nicest RCAF one I have seen. Looks British made. I have seen a few pictures on line of USAAF pilots wearing that wing on dress uniforms in the UK.

It's a dead ringer for the one you gave to me, except mine has a bit more of the black backing around the edges

Default RCAF mini wing on US uniform

This was taken from FB. A nice example of the wing with history of the pilot as well.

Rob
The photo Wingnut posted is of the Paddy Walker grouping. It belongs to author Jon McGuire and more photos og the group are in "More Silver Wings Pinks and Greens." It's a stunning group!
