Over 17600 were produced by Stanley, thus it's rarity!! The Royal Malta Artillery version is even rarer even though over 30300 were manufactured. This badge proved very unpopular with the regiment and many were later discarded!!

There is certainly considerable money in plastic badges, quite remarkable given the numbers actually manufactured.

Plastic badges
Back in the sixties many of these badges emerged having been in store for many years, William Tobin an early dealer allegedly had a bath tub full, (although not when I visited his establishment)
Easily damaged, with thin folding blades, it's not surprising after 70+ years these badges are fetching good money, however, they need far more careful handling and need to be kept out of direct sunlight to be in good condition. Rob |

It does certainly make you wonder how many remain extant, I agree, you do have to be a little careful with plastic badges, they have been known to "go off" if not looked after.

So how much did the badge garner?

Maybe but dealers' prices are not always a good guide. There was/is a Q/C KRRC on a website for £600 but even Bosleys priced them at £150.
