RAASC In Vietnam
Was quite pleased to acquire this Vietnamese made patch for the 1st Transport Platoon of the RAASC.. Finding Aussie patches from the Viet era is difficult, at least here in the U.S. Hand made quilted construction.
A stylized design of the 2 1/2 ton trucks used by the unit. Tactical markings are included in the design looking like the headlights. The patch is divided diagonally using the ASC colors. The unit's motto of You Call We Haul was characteristically mis-spelled as were many English words at the time The First Transport Platoon deployed to Vietnam in 1966 and would serve there until 1967. 1st TPL was stationed at Vung Tau. It had originally been intended for the Nui Dat area but it was felt that Vung Tau would better serve the task force. "The Pl was involved in 18 operations during their tour, either inserting or extracting infantry or artillery to fire support bases." Enjoy Jack
