Flag Day
I thought I would share a recent addition in the hope it may be of interest.
Two soldiers on a Motor Cycle Combination taking part in 'Flag Day'. Appears to be around the time of the Great War. You can just make out the last two words on the sign 'FLAG DAY' but I can't read the first word. I don't know what regiments these chaps are but they are wearing different cap badges. Enjoy, Roy

I thought I had a few more Russian Flag days in my small collection of "WWI flags", but these are all I could find

Very nice indeed Leigh,
It's amazing how this small pieces of ephemera have survived. Lovely to see. Cheers, Roy

I wonder if the enthusiasm was there for a Russian Flag day for 1917, given the events of that year in Russia?

So it seems that 'Russian' Flag Day is the consensus.
I don't suppose there is any chance of identifying the regiments? Cheers, Roy

Hello Roy,
Great photo, thanks for showing. Driver chap could be in the 15th (County of London) Battalion (Prince of Wales's Own Civil Service Rifles, or maybe Wiltshire Yeomanry. Here are a few more flags. I'm not sure why there should be an Austrian flag among them. Regards, John |

Is there an Austrian one there?
I may be missing it, but are you thinking of the Serbian flag, top right? (Servia until they were on our team in WWI when we decided that Servia sounded too servile and we rebranded them as Serbia). |

Yes, that is the Serbian flag top right. I was referring to the flag top left. John |

Ah, I was thinking it was a Spanish flag, but then they were neutral anyway.

It could be that the Austrian flag pin predates WWI.
Unconnected to charity flags I have a Chinese embroidered panel showing the national flags of the military contingents in China in 1914, Germany and Austria included, prior to the outbreak of WWI. I thought I had a couple more Russian Flag Day pins, I've found the images. |

There is a 'Help Russia' flag in the centre of my picture.
