Following a bit of investigation I can now confirm the the badge in question is a George V officers badge worn on the cap when the police style uniform was adopted and the shako hat being replaced again with the police peaked version around Oct 1911. The crown badge was also replace the Edward V11 version the King having died in 1910. Regards Bantam |

Does anyone know the approximate value of an Edward VIII and George VI prison service cap badge. I have owned these for many years and just intrigued. I have no intention of selling unless it would pay off my mortgage!

Hi Delta,
Neither of the badges command an high price despite everyone thinking Edward V111 very rare there are plenty to be found. I have seen prices range from £7.00 to £ 30.00. Hope that helps. Hwyl Bantam |
