Default Secrets Revealed!

Paid $650.00 for my Jewish infantry

$750.00 for my 4th Fld Amb

$550.00 for my 8th Fld Amb

$250 for E-258

All badges sold are scarce /rare.

The rarest being the Jewish infantry the rest being scarce! IMHO

Medical is highly collectable!

I think enough has been said about the buy your instant collection collectors.

Which are not truly collectors IMHO !

Unfortunately they are taking the rare ones in one foul swoop.

Hard to make out in the picture, but looks like that Strathcona's badge is hallmarked 1954.

Default CEF badges- prices results.....

All;
Look closely at the bidders who are the winners and the ones in second place.
Looks like there is a small but very well off bunch of "collectors?", who seem to have unlimited funds to put together a CEF collection in the fastest possible time. Although these "collectors?" are currently making a mess of the badge scene, these pretend collectors will eventually fade from the scene, once they have accomplished their intentions, whatever that might be.
Real collectors will simply have to tough out this unstable time, and pick up the pieces once things calm down, though this will take its` toll on peoples` tempers and patience.
Cheers,
John S.

The only problem with such bidding the dealers catch wind of the prices and they go up to unrealistic values putting off a lot of new collectors with out the bankroll these bidders have. It is also making it harder for old established collectors to get a harder to get badge they need by paying thousands for a badge that was bringing $500 a few months before and making them unobtainable perhaps to the established collector for good.

Default re prices

ok so these prices seem bonkers. esp when i see the prices some people pay here are far more reasonable. i 100% agree with the theory some "collectors" with deep pockets are making this unattainable for the majority of us. If i spent 3000 on a cef badge...as cool as it is and ya i like it....id be spending nights either at the shelter or on the deck. and its cold here

Default A Second No.1 Jewish Inf.Coy.Sold.

Another No.1 Jewish was sold today for US $ 1,725.00, a $100.00 less than the one last week.
It seems that some of last week's bidders are the same as this time...........

Default JRDC CEF-1: WWI Canadian Jewish Infantry Expeditionary Force Hat Badge ON EBAY

Hi - I am new to collecting British Commonwealth material; I joined this forum after reading posts on this rare badge, which piqued my interest, as it is currently for sale on eBay. I am well-aware of its rarity and, to some extent, its history. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161570911826...649&rmvSB=true Is this a favorable price for an example of this insignia in such condition? This link is posted in the body of the sale listing, and is highlighted by some very informed research.

The price it's listing for IMHO is way to much!

Only a handful made unlikely???

Cheers

It appears that the estimate of less than 100 badges in existence is based on the strength of the unit at the time of sailing. That is not a firm base for estimating the number of badges. There would have been an inventory based upon an authorized strength for the draft, plus wasteage.

Default Valuation

The value of any badge is only determined by market forces. The previous 2 examples cited in this thread made their sale prices only because there were 2 individuals with very deep pockets who between them, over a period of about 12-15 months, hoovered-up all rare and not so rare CEF badges offered on eBay at prices the ordinary collector couldn't cope with.

I purchased mine from a well known collection several years ago for about $1000Cdn, and even then I felt I paid a bit over the odds. A number of years down the line it looks like a good investment, not least because collectors have so few opportunities of getting their hands on one to add to their collection.

So, if you feel this wil be your best chance of acquiring a rare CEF cap badge, and you won't fret over spending that much money then go for it. However, like a number of other contributors to this thread, I think this badge is overpriced and so will not sell for the asking price. That being said, the seller appears to be willing to accept offers, so I'd take a chance at something considerably less than the asking price to establish whether the seller is willing to negotiate a more 'sensible/realistic' price.

Hello again!
I've been able to snag some pretty scarce badges from England (I'm in the US), due to the strength of the US dollar currently (the only US strength right now, in my opinion, and a short lived one, if one looks evaluates the incompatible state of our trading partners, and the lack of robust employment growth, instead statistics are distorted by utilizing part-time data and by lowering the goalpost, as it were, for retirement (fewer people over the age of 60 are filing for unemployment, instead forced to retire due to age discrimination, by coincidence the largest spike in live births coincides with that phase - the "Baby Boomers")... .

I never bought the CEF-1 JRDC badge, but it appears to still be up:

Too bad this seller hasn't recognized the drop in the Canadian peso.

How can you tell the difference between a real collector and a pretend collector? Do they have different "Lugs" ?
