Royal Irish Fusiliers collars

I have obtained these 2 collar badges both of which appear to relate to the Royal Irish Fusiliers.
Can any one advise why there are 2 different designs? Is it a time related thing? and if so, when did they change.

The badge on the left is one part of a two piece collar badge. The one on the right is not a collar badge design but a cap badge.

The left hand badge is pattern number 16145 sealed 12/02/1954 for wear with No 1 and No 3 Dress [LC 6135 of 12 July 1954 and Churchill p283]. This one being anodised aluminium dates it to later in the period of wear. It would be worn with a silver A/A coronet.

Although vertical collar badges were also worn on other orders of dress the vertical collar badge design is Princess Victoria's Coronet above a vertical grenade with triangular flames and with the Eagle of the French 8th Regiment on the ball. The design you show is a cap badge design - if it has loops then it is in all probability a kilt badge of the Royal Irish Rangers/Royal Irish Regiment who wear anodised aluminium versions of the three former line regiments - these badges having loops.
