Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would just add to this one
So, I have an old bugle without any cords and would like to brighten it up a bit. Now, I am a complete numpty on this subject and a trawl of ebay shows cords in many different colours. What colours are used by who (or should that be whom )? |

Royal Regiments wore red/yellow/blue rather than red/white/blue dont they?
Dorset Regt wore green. Just realised I'm thinking of Drummers rather than Buglers. That's me out of ideas for the moment. |

Thanks Leigh and Andrew for your help.
Thanks for the the offer Andrew, but I have found a ratty old set that will match the battered bugle. I think it is one of the cheap knock offs that you more often find these days anyway so not worth making much fuss about. |

I was under the impression that Royal regiments wore red/yellow and blue and everybody else wore Rifle green, in honour of the Rifle regiments that introduced the bugle into Army use.

In general that’s correct, except that it was Light infantry green (associated with the left flank companies) rather than Rifle green, and the association with the bugle horn accordingly. Rifle regiments came later.
