Could it be based on stylised RNAS officers cap badge? See link (i have no connection with seller) https://www.tommysmilitaria.com/en-G...cap/prod_10070

Strange its on a QC backing though. Not my area of expertise but done a quick google and the red white and blue stripe to the backing could be RNAS if the RN shop is correct, no pale blue in it however but could this be artistic license? I`m sure one of my more learned colleagues may be able to identify properly.

Default Car Badge

Many thanks for the links and thoughts, I can’t say I’d seen this type of badge previously. It’s definitely strange to have what does look like a WWI RNAS officers type of badge mounted on an QEII plaque.

It’s come from a good friend whose father was in the RAF during WWII, but they have no family connections with anyone in the RNAS.

Intriguing.
