Default Officers bullion cap badge

Could you please help me with that badge. Is it WW2 pattern? Is it a private purchase or maker is known?

This is the standard version of an Officer's cap badge which was in use from 1918 to the mid 1950s. The size of the crown varies greatly dependent on the manufacturer. Their is a good chance that it dates from WWII, due to the large quantities produced during the period, but actual dating and identifying maker is almost impossible. The chances are that it is a private purchase version due to the crown size and shape.

Just from the photograph, I think it would be later rather than earlier, WW2 period, RAF officers certainly did purchase their SD caps.
