Sonar branch - post 1950 rate badges

When the wartime Sonar rate badges were abolished in the RCN in 1949-50, the Sonar branch was combined with the Torpedo branch to form the TAS branch - see the thread on TAS branch for the TAS rate badge.

Approx 1958, the TAS branch was abolished with the branch being split and forming two 'new' branches - Sonarmen (SN) & Weapons Underwater(WU). All former TAS ratings who were sonar specialists rec'd the old Sonar wartime rate badge again, but now with the Canadian maple leaf above.

Sonar rate badges are illustrated below. The lower red set & right side gold wire sets are matched CPO sets.
