Badge Backings
Could those in the know please tell me if these are potentially the original backings for either badge?
The Berks Regt appears to have a aluminium triangle as reinforcing for the nearly stitched cloth. The Berks Yeo oval backing looks to be celluloid or some other plastic. I may possibly be moving one or both on. |

Luke, I have a similar Berks backing on plastic and also a Wessex Vols, with an alloy backing covered in red felt. So clearly a given practice and contemporary I'm sure.

The Wessex Volunteers companies initially kept their antecedent embellishments but this did not last long.

C Coy (Royal Berks) 2 Wessex Vol - also wore a red plastic backing for a short period, much like Lukes oval for the Berk Yeo in the initial post. It must have been a trend . . .

There is an image in the RGBW issue of the Regiment magazine which shows the flash being worn behind a Brigade badge.
