Default 6th Bn CEF 'Fort Garry Horse', Bandsman's cap badge?

I just received this badge in a lot and was surprised to find it in plated white metal or silver. It was covered in a thick layer of old flaky yellow lacquer and the lugs had been repaired at some time. I will be selling it on in the future but am curious if this is a CEF Bandsman's badge or perhaps post WW1 Fort Garry Horse of some type. Not in any reference that I could find.

Hi BCONLEY,
There is no record of the 6th Bn having a band. They were a short-lived infantry unit, and first were made the cavalry depot, and then become the third regiment in the Canadian cavalry bde. As the cavalry brigade regiment, they wore the badge without the numeral.
It is more likely that your badge is a veteran's example.

Thanks Bill, I was under the impression that the band of the 106th Regiment (Militia) was originally attached to the 6th Bn and deployed overseas with them, then they later were attached to the 10th Bn. I thought perhaps that band may have worn this type of badge during that period, just another CEF mystery I suppose.
