Okay, many thanks, just from the photographs, my thoughts would be that it is interesting to note the first flaw, on the first letter T in the word Scottish, which appears to be so much worse on the spurious example, as well as, the general quality overall, or lack of it, the actual materials and manufacture used, the font of the letters and significantly, the position of the loops, all very different than the other badge you showed.
Even if an original plate was ever added, it would still be unconvincing to anyone who had done their research beforehand, although, it would be very annoying.

This example/batch does not have Gaunt plaques but I wouldn’t rule out one appearing with a (fake or genuine) plaque attached later by some enterprising individual.
As ever with true restrikes and die flaws the question as to when the flaw occurred v’s when the die fell into the hands of the repro merchants is the $64,000 question.
We do definitely know that the second flaw is very much extant on modern restrikes. Certainly examples lacking this flaw, of which there are many that appear period and with good Gaunt plaques, must logically be earlier strikings.
