There was a Queen’s Own Yeomanry, Queen’s Own Mercian Yeomanry, Queen’s Own Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry etc. There is a Royal Yeomanry.

Hi,

I am not a military historian but I have never heard of The Queens own Royal Yeomanry.

Yeomanry I believe are traditionally reserve units.

Try Wikipedia and search for Yeomanry. This will show you the make up of the current Yeomanry Regiments. (Part 2)

Also on this page you will see a link under 'see also' to the yeomanry order of precedence which lists yeomanry units.

Regards
Steve

Mike H I believe has the correct answer. Having looked at your button is shows the Staffordshire knot. so I googled Staffordshire yeomanry. Under the Wikipedia entry on staffordhsire yeomanry the 2nd paragraph covers the history. It starts "in 1842 and goes on to mention The Queen's own royal yeomanry.

Steve
