Please note that my collar has six rows of two leaves, and therefore is a different version to the above. GTB |

Question remains why the raised and lowered crown thin monogram two piece OR badges are so thin on the ground? Rgds, Thomas. Last edited by fougasse1940; 15-07-15 at 03:49 PM. |

I have examples of all the badges you refer to, and they are almost certainly officer badges, the OR's being of single part construction Andy |

I wouldn't know about number of variations, however it does raise a question as it doesn't seem to fit! For one thing, it is solid, 1-piece. I am attaching a small representation of ASC cap badges and the cb at the end for comparison/analysis. Badge 1: 1911-15, 2-piece, bronze, loops. Rear tablet 'FIRMIN LONDON' Badge 2: OSD bz, 14 leaves, one-piece, loops. Impressed 'J.R. Gaunt. London'. Badge 3: As preceding but 13 leaves, gm, mint, loops. Badge 4: As badge 3 but 14 leaves, variation, slider Badge 5: 1916 Economy, 14 leaves, non-voided, slider. Badge actually appears to be brass not gm; uncleaned Collar badge: Bronze, loops Comments welcome GTB Last edited by GTB; 16-07-15 at 01:30 PM. Reason: additional info |

Wouldn't 45mm be cap badge size? GTB |

GTB,
the early OSD collar badges were identical in shape size and pattern to the cap badges, only the fixings differed! Andy |
