Default Zimbabwe Berets

Last Mondays edition of Channel 4's "Dispatches" programme was about who "bankrolls" Robert Mugabe.

I am not interested enough to watch a show about any bloody politician, let alone him. However, I noticed a strange shade of yellow beret being worn by soldiers in the opening frame.

Anyone know exactly who wears these rather fetching berets?

Here is the link:

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/4od

I know that people in the UK can watch the actual show if interested. I am not sure if this is possible for those who live oversea's.

"The Presidential Guard: Three battalions at Dzivarasekwa barracks led by Brigadier Armstrong Gunda. Also known as the Presidential Guard Group or the Presidential Guard Brigade"

Below is the best picture of the beret I could find, it seems to have artillery leanings, with the Ubique Grenade in the centre......

Hi BWEF.....your link is only "viewable" in the UK, like all other links from the other TV and the BBC.

If you use some proxy hosts, you can view it I believe.

Sense of humour, hmmm not something I'd associate with Mugabe .... although the Zimbabwe diplomat in London has a brand new Rolls Royce, country starving yet you buy a Rolls Royce, irony there.... somewhere.

Tom

Hello gents

I think the badge is engineers and not artillery?
Could be wrong though as I ,like them, lost the plot in 1980.
On the money front one would think that the Russian and Chinese funding would have gone further!
Cheers

Dave

Can you post some details of this for non-techy people Tom? I am sure that lots of people oversea's would like to watch British tv.

Apart from anything else, Channel 4 made its back catalogue free to watch from last month. For example, ten series' of "Time Team":

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/time-team/4od

Also, the two "1066" programmes etc etc etc

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/1066/4od

Is this the start of the end of boxed sets of DVDs?

I'll try and do a separate post for you, but I will rely on overseas members to confirm if it is working

Default ZIM SAS

I well remember chatting to a SNCO of the SAS outside Bulawayo Railway Station during the bush war. He was on duty, awaiting a train to arrive with a draft of men aboard. . He was dressed in 'Sands', and definitely wore a sash of light blue, and I am pretty sure a stable belt of the same colour. The beret I am not sure about but reckon it must have been the usual beret of the SAS

The badge looks like ZIMBABWE CORPS of ENGINEERS.
