Default First New Additions of 2015

Well when I first started collecting CEF. I collected only Unit Lineage of the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada,111th Bn CEF, Highland Light Infantry Where 3 generations of my family have served including myself. My granfather's Bn he went to the 4th Bn CDN's AKA Madfourth. With this ongoing I went to the next major interest.

Then I was only going to collect the Highland Infantry Line Battalions. Only Officers Cap badges, NCO/OR's Cap badges, C overs, Collar badges, Shoulder titles, Sweethearts.

When I accomplished this I collected the other Highland Battalions.

When this was done I started on the rest 1-260th Bn CEF

When this stalled in my infident wisdom I decided to collect the Corps badges of the CEF. OMG$$$. I never imagined I would even own certain badges due to rarity/scarcity.

Which brings me todays latest additions 18-5 and CPTD.

18-5 Ammunition Sub Park Mechanical Transport Company Browning Copper,No Makers Mark, Lugs . Note Charlton denotes the browning copper as a officers variety. I am gonna say no to this one!

CPTD Canadian Pioneer Training Depot Officers Cap Badge, Blackened Copper, White Metal Plate CPTD,No Makers Marks,Tangs E-W. Charlton says Maker is Gaunt ??.

The images are scanned as best I could do. But Larry will do them justice in the near future for the gallery and the CEF book project.

As my disease progresses with no cure insight. I would like to thank my grandfather for inspiring me to collect a very unique part of Canadian Military History.

Enjoy these and enjoy the hobby!

Took badges to Larry yesterday did the silver test on the plate. Its white metal. Please adjust your notes!
Rob

Hi Rob,

Firstly 'many' congratulations on these fine additions.

But I also have to say you have documented the progression of your 'disease' perfectly and something I think the rest of us 'inflicted' can understand. Is the forum now one of those on-line medical condition support groups...

Cheers, Roy.

Well the state of your disease has progressed rapidly Officers Cap Badges!

I bought the 13th Bn,16thBn,42nd Bn,43rd Bn 72nd Bn, 85th Bn all in one fould swoop 18 years ago. These feats cannot be accomplished in the present state of availibilty /rarity.

I am enjoying your new additions as well!

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for that. I don't think there is any cure

The last year has been rather exciting with some wonderful finds. I freely admit I went a little crazy but what the hell you only live once.

I am looking forward to exploring a few more (less costly) collecting areas this year and already have some interesting pieces on the way - OTC, Cadets, Colonial etc - you just can't keep a good collector down

That said and to my surprise I do have 'two' more CEF officers badges on the way; a lovely sterling silver Infantry and a super rare (no I really do mean rare) other example. Of course images and details to follow.

Now where is that postman?

Keep up the good work Rob, cheers, Roy.

I offer interventions. Let's set up an appointment and I will remove the offending material, and provide counselling.

Some at listed in the CEF gallery.

Others are I'm my own photo gallery and others not posted for some reason or another.

That's the best I can do at the moment! I am not the greatest photographer.

Hi Rob,

No problem. I was just admiring that stunning 13th silver and gilt in the DEF project. Wouldn't be yours by any chance?

Either way an exceptional badge.

Cheers, Roy.
