Default Sam Foote

Unfortunately I bring sad news, Sam Foote, the go to guy and most knowledgeable guy in South African collecting circles passed away at 1AM this morning. His wife said that it was a peaceful passing. He had been in frail care for awhile now. Regards Andrew

Thanks, Andrew. I met him about thirty years ago and he was, as you say, the most knowledgeable guy in the field of military badges.

Thanks Andrew,
Sad news indeed. Strange I was thinking of Sam this morning and wondered how he was as we have not spoken in a while. Very knowledgeable and what a collection. If you asked about any unit, he would disappear into that back room and come back with boards of the unit in question showing every conceivable badge they had.

Of course he insisted that a true collector 'only collects metal badges' as 'those cloth things get terribly moth eaten'.

Another of the BIG collectors gone.

Regards
Steven

Sadly never got to meet him but would have liked to have asked him about cast badges, believe he was a fundi.

RIP Sam
