Default economy plastic (boat raiding support badge)

A recent lucky find, This mint plastic economy version was worn by members of this elite unit on the chest. This one belonged to a trooper Noakes who was originaly a dog handler but went on to serve all over the world, It was one of the first SF units to allow Women and Trooper singleton was renowned for her preperation and methodical aproach. A gold version of the badge was made but rarely issued. Kev

May be so but some records are in the public domain. I remember seeing a programme on TV once where one particular member of this elite force went through the Royal Marine selection process to win his green beret.

If I recall, this particular stalwart went onto to see action in many other 'daring' deeds and even became the head of another SF organisation (see attachment for badge of said SF organisation).

That wasn't a crook, it was an experimental weapon he was trialing but not many people know that.

Oh and the badge is the bronzed officers version.

A very good effort. A lot of preparation work on a much malined unit. The Elephant Corps played a large part of the fall from grace if I remember correctly!

I have to say, but the badge looks like the early version of the Blue Peter badge worn by John Noakes back in the Sixties!

Default Project 20120401

I believe the full unit title of the female component was: Boat Reconnaissance And Surveillance Squadron (Intelligence Exploitation Research Element) sometimes abbeviated to BRA.

And didn't Trooper Noakes do his High Altitude Low Opening course on camera? Hope he left the dog behind that time...
