Default RAF MT Driver

Have just acquired this photo of an early member of the RAF who has a cloth MT badge on his left wrist which is identical to the example shown in Edwards and Langley as unidentified/unofficial.

Has anyone seen this on RAF uniform before?

Jon

Hi Jon,

I can't help with the uniform. However it's a great photograph and nice to see a good image of one of these unofficial patches being worn. Thanks for sharing, a great find.

Cheers,

Roy

Intriguing. If he had been RFC [ie Army] before change to RAF, then I am not surprised at the badge "lingering" after the change. {Official or not!]

Similarly, RFC men qualified under Army Regs. for Good Conduct Badges, so could have a fair number, more than ever the RAF allowed, which was three [and for very different periods of qualification].

That is a super image, most interesting and thank you for sharing it.

The uniform is the first pattern Khaki with a buttoned cloth belt and brown leather buttons, no shoulder straps and khaki/red eagles.
