Default Possible NATO patch

Happy New Year to all members of the forum.
Can anyone identify this patch for me please? I was given it as a British patch but it looks to have NATO connections to me. Any help would be appreciated.

This badge was worn by 280 (UK) Signal Squadron in BFG circa 1982. My example came from the SQMS. I don't know if the unit still exists.
