North Highland District (Scottish Command) - Age?
I have two formation signs for the North Highland District (Scottish Command). Can anyone comment on their age? One looks older from the front, but from the back, the other looks older. Not sure. Is either one WWII? Comments?

Can anyone comment on the backs? I know each has a sticker/tape (didn't want to remove), but the style of the back of both is still visible. I've seen others with the solid black back covering like the one on the left as WWII. Can anyone comment on this?

North Highland District
I regret that I can't help. I have three variations on this sign: one EonF (identical to your left hand sign) and two Ptd, one of which is of WW2 vintage. The situation with signs for Lowland District, East Scotland District and West Scotland District is equally unclear (to me at any rate). Mike

Mike,
Thanks for the reply. Sorry, but being a beginner in this area - what is "EonF" and "Ptd" ?? |

Nomenclature
Sorry - EonF = embroidered on felt and Ptd = printed. Also SkE = Silk Embroidered. Mike

It's almost impossible to date signs like these but for my money the one on the left was made later than the one on the right, albeit gut feeling.

I would agree - with the same caveat! Mike
