Default 8th Recce Officer's Badge

Here is another of my recent acquisitions, 8th Recce which I believe is an officer's badge. It has been silvered on the front (you can see a little bit that got onto the back). I'm especially interesting in member's comments on this badge as I am stepping out of my usual territory (CEF badges) here.

Thanks and Cheers, Ian.

I'm thinking that this looks like a very nice example of a legit badge but the real ones all look like this... the quality is in all the badges so no difference between O/R and Officers as far as I know.... am interested in other comments from the forum....

Looks like a good one. I have one that is "frosted" and the scroll is bronze colour rather than brass. Was told it was an officers private purchase but who knows as there is several varieties. Some in aluminum others in white metal and the super rare silver with Canada in the scroll. Cheers Brian

Mine appears to be white metal - certainly not aluminum as it weighs close to 14 grams. It is a very thin stamping but strong.

Brian, I think mine looks like the one you use as your avatar?

Cheers, Ian.

Yes it appears the same. Is the overlay a bronze rather than brass on yours as well? Hard to tell in the pics. Cheers Brian

Hi Brian - the overlay appears to be brass with matte coating somewhere between a gilt and a bronze colour...

Oh, me like. Someday perhaps. Would like to have one of every variant. Cheers Brian
