The stripes and ensignia for a Sergeant Tailor
Good afternoon
My great grandfather was a Sergeant Tailor with the Northumberland Fusiliers. I am trying to obtain a photo of him and nobody in the family has one. So I thought I would approach the Regimental Museum. They don't have any photos that bear his name but I suggested that as he served between 1899 and 1920, and I know which batallions and where he was posted, we could look at group photographs for the man in the appropriate stripes. The only problem is that neither I, nor the museum manager, know what to look for. How would a Sergeant Tailor be distinguished from another Sergeant? Finding a photo of him is one of the most important tasks in my life, so thank you for any help you may be able to offer. Best wishes, Louise |

Welcome to the Fourm. I am unaware of any badge that marked a sgt tailor out from any other sgt.

There was no distinguishing badge to ID him in a group of Sergeants unfortunately.

Thank you to you both, that is sad news but helpful nonetheless. Back to the drawing board. Best wishes, Louise
