unknown patch
Good Afternoon,
I am sure somewhere there is a reference on service dress cloth patches for the Canadian Army, Air Force, Navy and Armed Forces. I have some on jump wings etc, Boonie Cap (yes I know some of you don't like that term) and combat flashes. Knowing they are out there and finding a quick reference for updating my collection on my vacation are another thing. So here is a group of patches and pins, any help would be a great help. Chris

Chris,
The Cannon forms part of the rank and appointments badges of Artillery Sgt's and above, upto WO1. The grenage is a Royal Engineer Officers FS cap badge. Both are worn in the British Army, and should probably be the same in the Canadian Army. regards

I knew if I reached out, there would be a wealth of information in return.
clarification, cannon much like the crown in a Staff/Flight Sgt. Yes? Wheel is a trade badge grenade, still has two views, I think it is by far the hardest, what I certainly don't understand is the subtlety in number of flames and surface. Either way you are still way ahead of me on it Chris

The Canadian SAS patch is a fantasy piece. It was made up for veterans of the Canadian SAS group (1947-49), but that group never had unique Canadian SAS insignia. A former member made up "souvenir" pieces, IIRC sometime in the 1970's or early 80's.

Thank you again, I will put the SAS in the junk bin, and list the others as described

The two RCN badges -
the three anchors metal badge is for CPO (Chief Petty Officer) 2nd class & was worn in pairs on the collars of the summer khaki shirt. The gold badge is indeed Quartermaster rate (later classified as Boatswain in 1960) 1950 to 1970 period & was worn on the best Nr 1 Dress uniform. RCN Bryan |

The last badge is Engineers and, depending on size, is that worn on the coloured FS cap or on the lapels of Mess Dress.
