Boer War, but what unit?
Hi all
I've had this badge for some years now and would love to work out which unit it might be for. My reason for suggesting that it is Boer War is because the brass loops are identical to another badge I have that is definitely from this period. I looked at list of irregular units in L.L. Gordon's British Battles & Medals and got completely lost in the number of outfits. Two likely contenders are: Cameron's Scouts & Clifford's Scouts but there are no doubt others that I've missed! Or is it "S C"??? Ideas? Oh, and it's about 22mm from top to bottom. |

Must be incredibly rare as no one appears to have seen it before...

Roy is the man to ask about these Boer War raised units. I understand that he has quite a collection of them.

Maybe the Sailors Company which was one of the Cape Peninsula Town Guard Formations.

Many thanks gents! It has languished unloved in a box for some time and it was only when I looked at the way it was made (hand cut, ring loops) that I felt if must be from the period.
Roy, if you are reading this I would love to have your input! Sailor's Company? How too wonderful for words! |

Dum Dum......
My Holy Grail It is just like a badge that I have been searching for over the last 30 years..... The only thing is it's toooooo small..... The badge I am looking for is 2 inches tall by 1 1/4 inch wide in size...... "C" over the letter "S"..... Privately made in Australia...... I have a photo but cannot find it right now.... Have not mentioned the name of the unit on purpose until I can confirm..... Mike
