Merseyside ACF group badges
In the 1980s Merseyside ACF was divided into 4 groups, City,Northern, Eastern and Wirral.
I know what group badges were worn by the Eastern and Wirral Groups ( see photos) does anyone know what badges were worn by the City and Western Groups. It has been suggested that the City Group might have worn a Liver Bird. Any information appreciated. P.

Below is some information I had from the County during the 1990s:
1983 - c.1987 Although the county since its formation had comprised four groups - Northern, Eastern, City, and Wirral Groups - these were not identified by any insignia at the time that the MERSEYSIDE / ACF brassard was in use. However, during 1983, when standard ACF titles had been introduced, two of the groups decided to purchase and wear a cloth sign beneath the title, to identify the group to which they belonged. These were as follows: EASTERN GROUP. Below the standard ACF title was worn a shield shaped sign, showing a red rose, detailed in black, with a small yellow centre and green sepals. Above the rose is the word EASTERN in red letters. The whole is embroidered onto a greenish khaki drill material, with a self coloured overlocked border. WIRRAL GROUP. Below the standard ACF title was worn a rectangular sign showing a stringed bugle horn above the word WIRRAL, all embroidered in gold on a dark green silky material, with a dark green overlocked border. The City and Northern Groups did not adopt signs. As the Eastern and Wirral Group signs were unofficial, pressure was applied for them to be discontinued and they had disappeared by 1987. I hope this may help. |
