Order of Precedence 1918
Hi All,
I am designing the order in which I display my collection which is of OR cap badges of regular units at 11 Nov 1918. I have 16 or so left to collect which will cost about £350-400. Can anyone tell me a useful source for Orders of Precedence? The only one I can find is at the old regiments.org site which can be viewed with the internet archive at http://web.archive.org/web/200701061...sts/ba1918.htm I wondered whether Army Lists might help but I couldn't find anything other than alphabetic lists in the table of contents in the ones I saw. I'm fine with the cavalry, infantry, RA and RE: my only difficulties are with the Services, Departments and Corps and War Raised Units and whether certain overseas forces (eg BWI Regt, W India Regt, Newfoundland Regt, West African Regt &c) are technically part of the British Army establishment. The regiments.org list does have a few errors in it (eg the Corps of Military Accountants wasn't formed until the next year) so some corroboration would be nice. Thanks! Tom |

You might try this book although it dates from 1916. 'Regimental Traditions and Nicknames of the British Army' (5th edition)

Kings Regulations and Orders for the Army may assist you. They have the order of precedence of Corps and Regiments.
1908 was on line. |
