Hi guys

I've had this for a bit, but still not convinced.(I might have asked before)
Any ideas on authenticity or opinions most welcome.

Thanks

No doubt I will be corrected, but, it looks ok to me.

Hi Colin, I agree with Phil. Looks OK. Got a side shot of the lugs for a better look.

On the same Battalion, curious to see what this one goes for.

Hi All,
Colin's badge has more voiding around the thistles. The one I have has less voiding, like Paul's recent purchase. I note that Fig. 1432 in Cox's book shows less voiding also.
Cheers, Tinto

Colin,
sorry! It's a "Thumbs Down" from me!

The voiding as Dean points out is wrong, the inner thistle flowers should butt against the Satire! The badge is also too flat overall and the detail poor, in particular the Tower and Leaves. It also has a mottled appearance. The font on the base tablet is also rather thin and tall and there is not much space between the letters and the border. Finally the flagstaff should have a spear tip rather than an arrowhead!

Well, that seems pretty conclusive. I've always had my doubts about this one, so not very surprised.

Thanks for all the inputs!

Cheers

Colin

Andy, would this apply to all the three badges of this pattern ?

Thanks

Gerard

Gerard,
No mate! Each pattern has it's own little subtleties!

Well done Mark. That's also a better - and more realistic - price than the one on the "new" web site.
Nice badge.

David,
To be honest I think Mark has had a bargain and probably paid £50-60 less than its true worth (?), the other one at £225 is also a snip and had I not recently acquired one I would have snapped it up! (I see that one has now gone too ).

This is yet another badge, that has been faked that much that it reduced the selling price of originals as people are reluctant to splash the cash in cash they end up with a dud!

I had gone 40 years without seeing a genuine example of this rare badge on the open market and within the space of a few weeks three have appeared, perhaps just a fluke but these are pretty scarce badges!

Andy

Andy,
I was in the same boat for years with this one and then all of sudden I managed to get a HMS one, a "normal" one - all within the space of about 6 months (before that it was almost a pipe-dream)... The "ex-pattern card" version that came from another KeithB via Bosleys was the icing on the cake for me.
You are probably right about the price as I always forget about inflation and just how long ago it was when I got mine. Doesn't time just fly....
All the best, David
