Thank you 54Bty for the history behind the Beja Battle badge.

Does anyone know how many of these badges were made?

Is there any information known on who might have made these badges?

Has this badge been reproduced/faked?

I have my Grandfather's Beja Badge. He was Mr John T Brownlee and Mum is going to give me all his details. Thank you so much for all the wonderful info you have provided here.

This gives you an impression of how much they would cost from a dealer:

They tend to go for a bit less on ebay.

Default Beja Battle Badge

Hello, My first posting, but hope that you can help. I have come across this thread as I was looking for some information on the 172 Field Regt., and I am researching James Burke, Number 1083453, who died on the 12th April 1943 and was buried first at Beja Town Cemetery and then was reburied on the 27th July 1944 at MEDJEZ-EL-BAB WAR CEMETERY. I thought that because of that he may have died at Beja. I want to tell his story, so he won't be forgotten. I am researching all the men from WW2 who are listed on our local War Memorial and if I can expand his story for his descendants, I would be very happy. Kind regards, Mavis

You might get some information from 172nd Field Regiment's war diary for the period January to May 1943 which is available under the reference WO175/342 at the National Archives at Kew.

Such diaries do not always mention individual soldiers by name but will probably include general details of casualties.

I can recommend a reliable researcher (not me) who could provide a copy of the diary for a fee. Send me a Personal Message if that is of interest and I'll provide his details.

Jon
