Default Printed Scottish Regiments shoulder titles

I put some of these printed Scottish Regiments shoulder titles on my wants list, but can anyone tell me if any of these were manufactured and issued during WWII?

I have seen a few offered online, but they looked to be in unissued condition or may be of modern manufacture.

Having looked at some contemporary photos there does not seem to be any evidence of them being worn, but I may be wrong.

A good question. The only printed titles I can recall seeing were the A&SH, which think may have been worn at some point.
Tartan flashes seem to have been the norm after the black slip on STs went out.

Default Printed Scottish titles

Thanks for the reply CB, I cannot say that I have ever seen any photos of the printed titles being worn, as you say the tartan flashes seem to have taken over after the slip-on titles went out.

I have a photo of a Cameronian with the tartan square in place of a shoulder title and from what I gather this seems to have been adopted by other Scottish Regiments, maybe the A&SH use of them was short lived and the red and white dicing replaced them.

The Royal Scots worn titles (printed and / or embroidered) for a very short period of time : late 1943/ early 1944. Here in february 1944 with the 8th Battalion Royal Scots.

Thanks Normandie18, one can only speculate as to whether the titles were printed or embroidered, certainly worn by the Royal Scots during 1943-44 from your photograph of Monty's visit to the 15th Scottish Division.

For my book Badges on Battle Dress I recorded actual examples of the printed titles A and SH, Cameronians, KOSB, London Scottish, Lovat Scouts, Royal Scots and Royal Scots Fusiliers.

How many of these were actually worn is, as has been suggested another question.

Jon, thanks for your information on this subject, so Gordons, Camerons and Seaforth did not have printed titles, maybe they were never issued?
