Apparently the East Anglian Regiment was going to be called the Royal East Anglian Regiment but the initials would have spelt R.E.A.R. which is why it became the Royal Anglian Regiment dropping " East" from the title.

The East Anglian Regiments only lasted for 6 years, it hardly seemed worth the trouble of forming them, or producing their badges come to that, but then who knows the reasoning that goes on within the corridors of power?
The 3 E Ang. collar badges were a golden eagle within the silver garter, staybright or anodized, I'm not sure of the exact terminology that applies.
As one might expect, because of the short life-span of the East Anglian Regiments, trying to locate any of their badges is proving rather difficult.

Bill.
Hi bill, just to throw a spanner in the works, it’s ..... east anglia brigade.... or later royal Anglian regiment. Sadly a lot of sites, and books have east Anglian , which is a First World War title.
