Default School of Music Sealed Pattern

Hi All,

Tim (Grey Green Acorn) has brought to my attention that the notation, on the following sealed pattern, is perhaps more interesting than I had given it credit for. What do the Royal Marine boffs think?

ATB,

Phil

"RMRSM"!!?

For a guess, I would say that the author was not military orientated

What is written on the card. If it is the same then the 1994 writer is not to at fault.

Im wondering if the red cross on it, is signifying that they know its wrong. Hence they have got rid of it. Just a thought.

The red cross means it is for disposal for one reason or another.

Default Nice

Evening Phil
Although the card says Regiment the badge only has the correct RMSM initials.

Pretty certain this didn't come into use so guess it was red crossed and abandoned at the approval stage. Don't have access to John's book right now but think this was around the time that the band moved from the lyred cap badge to the Corps' cap badge. This may have been considered and vetoed in favour of the general cap badge?

Really nice and unusual piece for a RM collector all the same

The RMSM badge was considered for use by the RM band?

Since when has the RM used the term regiment? It's a storeman's error.

Yes, it appears to be a straight forward error, but am I correct in saying that it's being suggested that the RMSM badge may have been put forward for wear by RM bands? Im not saying that I support the suggestion, merely attempting to clarify that it's being put forward.

Great oddment, I'm sure it is an error.
Can't begin to imagine the conspiracy theories that would start if these were delivered to the school of music or divisional bands!

A "Dowler" badge on a cap which I think, from the "SL33b" code is c1989.

Default Curious

Phil
The pattern and NATO numbers are identical but it looks like the dates are decades apart
Is this a con by someone or the Marines considering using the same badge as the Army?
