I have inherited this cloth emblem and would be grateful for clues as to what it relates to. Many thanks

Hello Sue, what you have there is a Royal Air Force officers peaked hat badge.
Very similar to those worn today if you look for some photos - yours is older of course as it has a 'kings' crown.
