Default UNKNOWN VRI PLAID BROOCH

Does anybody have any idea what this solid silver plaid brooch? is related to a Canadian Regiment?

Peter

The RCR has pipers. Mike (Regimental Rogue) should be able to confirm if they wore / wear the broach. It looks older.

Pipers in The RCR have, over the years, made up a variety of plaid brooches using regimental badges for centres (or in the case of the one linked above, it looks like a regimental button) and whatever backings they happened to have. Odd variations turn up occasionally that were certainly not regimental issue. I also suspect that some pipers, having left the service, also continued to wear variations of regimental accoutrements as a connection to their service.

A variety of RCR pipers' badges and one brooch can be seen on my page here: http://regimentalrogue.com/rcrbadges...dge_pipers.htm

I asked some students at the University here who read Arabic and Urdu. They said it is probably Urdu, and it is a name but hard to read (Ufi Shad?). Since it is Urdu, my guess still is that it is a Pakistani maker.
