This is a good question! I have only ever seen smaller versions for MMG in all bronze, but are we to assume a larger cap badge existed? I can't check at the moment, but isn't this mentioned in K&K?

The one I have is attached. It has blades, so beret badge? It's small at 33mmx40mm

Default MMG Variations

I have never been totally happy with the "Larger MMG" overlaid. Like Mike, I have never noticed that there was no void between the M and G. The one below is a little less wonky that the one shown earlier, but would this even have been accepted?

The other version shown is the smaller "hanging" scroll, which I have always thought was good. Any comments
Cheers, Neil

Neil,
not a beret badge as they were not introduced until much later, this is a "SUPERB" OSD Cap Badge!

Neil,

I would say your larger badge is good whereas the other looks suspect to me?

Thanks Andy! Am happy to hear both comments

The officers badge is very small for a cap? But collar with blades?

Cheers, Neil

If we assume that in 1915 there was a load of badges bought privatly by the CO as described, then it is not unreasonsable to assume that there were:

a. Subsequent orders - possibly to another firm.
b. A WD authorised badge sometime post 1916.

Thus it is entirely possible that both versions are correct. Personally I am happy with both.
