Merioneth Denbigh and Flint ACF

I have an ACF Battledress blouse for sale and couldn’t identify the arm badges despite looking through Waring and Rawlings.

I have found a pair of the badges on a dealers website where they are described as Mermont ( think should be Merioneth ) Denbigh and Flint ACF.

Can anyone please confirm if that is correct ?

I think Steven ( Risby) identified the badge from Waring ( my copy of Waring is incomplete) and I think Waring incorrectly put Mermont instead of Merioneth. I can’t find anywhere in North Wales with that name.

Hi Peter,
Waring's Identification Pamphlet no2 identifies this in Section F - Premilitary Forces as Anglesey & Caernarvon ACF (F2) and Mermont, Denbigh & Flint ACF (F79). There is however, no indication of the time period for each. I don't know that Merioneth was associated with Denbigh & Flint, but in 1969, there was a Merioneth & Montgomery ACF. In the name changes of 1974, Merioneth became part of Gwynedd ACF. I can't find any reference to a Mermont in Wales, either!
However, Major Dennis Hutt of Cambridgeshire ACF, who made notes of many ACF badges in the 1970s, stated in his notes that Anglesey & Caernarvon ACF 'were still wearing the badge but in a silk embroidered version, below the titles ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS over ACF in white letters on red, or ROYAL ARTILLERY over ACF in red letters on blue'.
I have both the printed and the silk versions in my collection as the Anglesey & Caernarvon ACF pre 1974.
I don't know whether that helps or muddies the water further for you!!

Looking again I have found Mermont Denbigh and Flint mentioned in Rawlings,( see attached). Never though to look under Mermont.

I still think that a typo by Major Waring has been followed by others when identifying the signs. As to which Cadet area the signs were originally for is still not crystal clear but these things make our interest so absorbing.

Is Mermont perhaps simply a corrupted amalgam of Merioneth(shire) and Montgomery(shire)? They are neighbouring historic counties after all and as already stated no such place by that name exists in Wales.
