Default 17 lancers knife

Hi all, I found this knife, can any tell me how old it might be. The owner tells me the hilt and handle have been added by someone who worked at a sword factory, so I guess the blade is old.
There is a fair chance it will be for sale. Thanks Andrew

Looks like Blade, Sheath and parts of handle could have come from FS fighting
knife

The blade looks perhaps a little long to be a FS knife to my untrained eyes.

By the time the FS knife was introduced they would have been the 17th/21st Lancers.

Hopefully Roy sees this thread and can add benefits of his great knowledge on this subject.

I believe the pommel, handle and cross guard are from a Masonic sword see attached image of one I have, i am looking for the cross guard for my own sword these are the type carried inside a walking cain and the cross guard separate in the handle of the stick.

Regards

Stephen

Wow Stephen, I think you’re right, the parts look exactly the same. Well done

.... I am thinking a "Pig Sticker" converted into a knife? Hunting pigs with lances was a thing. Might explain the crappy scabbard?

I personally like the Scabbard the whole appearance I believe to be late 19th early 20th century Officer Quality and expensive to manufacture.

Perhaps Hunting knife or more likely WW1 trench knife many versions seen at this time but with Masonic overtones for the more observant eye thus making a statement. And I would like this in my collection.

Regards

Stephen
