They are not, moreover, some are far worse than others.

Thanks for your opinion Frank.
It would be nice to know which books are the worst offenders, to avoid them.
Thanks,
Peter

Most books contain a few "mistakes" notwithstanding, I think it is particularly important to avoid those written by authors who have deliberately had items produced to place in their work in a misguided attempt to pass the same off as original in the future.

Hi Frank,
Amazing that an author would go to such an extent.
Thanks,
Peter

Hi all,

Not looking to hijack this thread but I thought I would post here as I have a similar badge. This is from a large lot of badges that came with a medal collection my brother and I bought (we're medal people so not too up on badges!).

I assumed it was Royal Welch but then considered it may be Hussars. Grateful for any pointers!

Apologies for image quality - can do better if required, just need to set up the proper lighting, etc.

It's a collar badge of the pattern worn by 3DG, 10th Hussars, Royal Wilts Yeomanry.

Definitely not Welsh Regt.

Alan,

Thanks for your speedy reply.

I'm guessing by the general use of the badge across so many units it is quite a common badge?

Regards,

Neil

Neil

Not that common as they were relatively small single regiments although they did have a long existence.

These badges were used by a variety of the smaller police forces in Wales at one time and are fairly common. I can't comment on military use as such but it is worth being open minded as to who actually wore them. The appended photo was taken in 1924 in Anglesey, North Wales.

Dave.

Gents,

I plan to list this badge on ebay shortly.

I stated when I joined that I would give first refusal to any forum members if they helped with any badge ID.

So if anyone is interested please let me know.

Regards,

Neil
