It looks to me like a Duke of Wellington's Regiment collar badge that has had the howdah removed.

There is nothing removed from this collar badge. I do not think it is a Duke of Wellingtons.

Yep, I have had it under the magnifying glass. I can now say that hoots assessment is correct. Thanks Hoot, Tim and Simon for your input. I should have gone to Specsavers.
