Default Silver date and makers name.

A small puzzle to solve. Can anybody identify the makers name on this silver stamp mark. Would I be correct in thinking it is a Birmingham mark with a date of 1826 ?
The makers mark apears to be S.H but I can not find a maker with these initials from this date. What are the thoughts please.
Regards,
Jim.

Thanks for the reply Alex. I looked at Alex Haines as he seems to be the only one I can find within that date range but the lack of information regarding making military badges has made me ask the question, apparently he made winecoolers. The silver mark is on the back plate of a 92nd regiment of foot Gordon Highlandeds shoulder belt plate.

Well it is an oblong punch with rounded ends. I am pretty sure it is an S.H but the dot is very prominent. Does the book say anything about what Samuel Hennell made ?
Regards, Jim.

No nothing else just English silversmith based in London, before 1811 initials were in a plain oval punch . Internet search shows he made some fancy stuff like soup tureens so may not be your SH.

Just found this looks like your S.H is the same, must have changed the punch shape later on..

That is a great piece of research. The date range is perfect and the initials with the dot certainly look very similar. The script also mentions that he changed his makers mark.
However, the anchor is a Birmingham makers mark, and Samuel Hennell was based in London.
Jim.
