There are two versions of the RHA badge, Private Purchase and MoD Issued.
The PP version has the end of the Garter over the top, the issued version has the end of the Garter tucked down the back. The voiding between the garter and the Scroll is sometimes missing on the PP version, but, not always.

As far as I know the RHA started to wear there own collar badges in 1970-1971 in anodised aluminium, therefore all metal badges are for the beret. In most of the RHA Regiments the white metal badge is still Purchased from the PRI shop and still has lugs.

Open to any conflicting evidence.

Haha, I find that funny.

Your incredibly detailed posts regarding these badges are great info and I've copied and printed them out for reference. However, how you expected a Frenchman to understand them is beyond me.
