First, as has been indicated it is a OSD badge in metal. Clarification to my previous posts. I was indicating that NDHQ / CMHQ did not acquire plastic badges outside of Canada, or in addition to the units mentioned.
Mike, I don't understand your comment about the back of this badge compared to the plastic 1 Cdn Para badge. The Canadian manufacturing method of making plastic badges did not leave a reverse on the badge even close to the one on this badge. IF you can access a copy of Joyce's Into the Maelstrom, on page 88, the reverse of the plastic Canadian Parachute Corps badge is illustrated. It is solid, showing no hollows, and as typical of Canadian plastic badges, the lugs are molded as part of the badge and not added after the molding process. The reference in the listing is probably an error.

The badge is not an OSD metal badge, it is plastic, confirmed with the seller.
The reference to the 1CANPARA is the filling marks on the reverse, not the cirlce or the dished feathers. Last edited by Tanker Mike; 17-12-14 at 04:56 PM. |

Then you have a new first in the history of badge collecting as up to now there is no recorded incidence of Gaunt making a plastic badge.

OSD..... you can see some chipped bronze exposing the Gm underneath on the front of the badge. BTW under the Gaunt mark.... it might say "Late Jennens"...concealed by the tangs?
* IF they could make the old plastic as good as this..... then why do we see the crappy WW2 type

Well as they used to say in the Good Ole Days!
If that badge is plastic, "Then My Cock's a Kipper"! It's a bronzed OSD, no doubt! Andy |

The so called file marks on the back of the para badge are milling marks where the surface of the rear part of the injection mould has been machined flat.

I've seen some strange threads recently, but this one takes the biscuit.

I have been it touch with both the seller and the vendor and can confirm 100% that it is in fact made of chocolate and is a Xmas novelty intended for decoration on an Xmas Tree.
I hope that ends this matter.
