Default Date a para beret

Hi All,

recently aquired a para beret. Just wondered if any way to date - no lining or date/markings anywhere. Also, old piece of wooden matchstick box inbetween lugs. Was this a common thing to support the badge in some way ?

Cheers in advance, Mark

I don't remember seeing any para berets without the two vent holes, maybe private purchase, but I doubt this is as old as the badge, assuming it is the WWII type and the badge is correct.

Default beret

Chap I got it off believed it was from the 1960's but I think the badge is original and is older than the beret. Not sure if badge is WW2 or bit later ?

To me,it appears the beret has never had a lining in it.
