Default Royal Artillery Territorials! - Whot's Going On Ere Then?

These are a strange brace of badges! A lugged RA Territorial badge but in Whitemetal and a slidered example but with a Wm Facade on a Gilding metal badge?

Is the lugged badge an error on the change from Vols to Territorial?

Any ideas guys?

Andy

Andy, they're very nice whatever they are ! I'm sort of wondering whether I ought to look for an officer's Vol Artillery and ditto TF Artillery badges as that's what my gt grandfather woiuld have had (Monmouthsire Vol Arty) - all he left was a pair of (regular) collars. I have a nasty feeling that he successively ditched the previous when he got the new!
ho hum
