Unknown buttons - possibly hunt ????
Can anyone help with the identification of this button please ? The letters appear to be WKH (possibly West Kent Hunt or West Kent Hounds???). Hollow back construction, gilded and with raised letters. Marked Firmin & Sons 153 Strand Londonand 2 Dawson St Dublin.
I have three sets of these, all slightly different. Any help gratefully appreciated Up for grabs if anyone is interested -happy to swap/trade Many thanks Paul |

Quick look through Baileys Hunting Directory 1961-2 shows nothing like this.

It might be a hotel button. The present-day West Kensington Hotel is too small to have had many uniformed staff, but a check through some Edwardian trade directories might produce some likely candidates.

Hi
The West Kent Yeomanry were Hussars so this could be a button for that Yeomanry? if you look at the H it could also be read as YC and therefore West Kent Yeomanry Cavalry.

Hi there and festive greetings to you all,
A quick look through Gwen Squires book on Buttons, identifies the button as the "West Kent Hunt - Foxhounds". (Page 72 nos. 27). I know this book contains errors but it is definitely a good start and more than likely correct. I have attached a copy of the West Kent Yeomanry button. So that it can be discounted. As previously suggested, it has the stylised letters "WKYC" intertwined below a crown/coronet. It is shown in Ripley's Yeomanry Buttons book (Nos. 107). So for my money, it is the West Kent Hunt - Foxhounds! Hope that helps. Regards and Best wishes for 2009. Ian |
