Ww2 Glider Pilot Badge
Hi, I am looking to expand my collection, what do people think of this badge?
293408200330 is the item number on Ebay - seller seems to have a few special forces things. Obviously I'm keen not to throw my money away but equally would like to expand my collection. Thoughts appreciated, many thanks Gary |

Hello,
This ebay account is selling items off the website of a member banned from here. The website is Chairborne Militaria and the website owner is Jack Dutton Roberts. This ebay account is now being used to sell items that are already on his website. This badge is on there at £150.00. The badge in my opinion is correct and genuine but its not a Glider Pilots Badge (Army Flying Badge) as you describe it, its an arm badge for Glider borne troops. regards

The officer’s RFC cap badge in this cap is fake with the flaw between the F and the crown. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WW1-RFC-R...407?nav=SEARCH

Are you sure, the seller states "cap badge has clearly been there for near 100 years" and so on?

May I ask about the Military Police title they had which fetched £500 - what was it about it that made it an Airborne associated thing? Also as a very novice collector does anyone recommend a decent starter book for SF badges, titles etc... ( assuming a beginners coverall publication exists), it would seem to be an area especially tricky to navigate
Thanks Gary |

In my opinion the RFC cap badge is incorrect , with wedge below crown , and cap does not appear of WW1 officer pattern ,rather it appears of WW2 pattern , with thick strap to front, it should be thin , not something I would bid on .

So the badge, has not, in actual fact been there for "near 100 years" then?

In my opinion a crazy £287 for what I think is a WW2 Hat, and iffy RFC badge ....ouch !!!....just my personal opinion.

I am ashamed to confirm I was the underbidder. I do not deal with JDR, ever, period, but I was totally unaware he was listing using an alias. |

I have noticed there are a number of regular dealers using different accounts on eBay. One of them very well known who is a battlefield tour guide. I asked him about why he used it and the reply didn’t come as a surprise ... to take advantage of £1 selling fees offered to private sellers.
As I have always done I buy the item, not the seller or story! SC |
