Hi mate, it was on a CD-ROM of stuff that I got with some military books. There was some folders of pics, mainly Australian. I started going through them this morning. Do you know who it is ? The Early Tank Corps photo was on there as well... There is maybe 200 photos on the disc but most are really lo-res. Cheers Marc

I'll see if I can find his details and will PM you if i do.

From memory he also served as an officer in the 13th Battalion (Macquarie Regiment) and wore a chrome (rather than brass) 13th battalion hat badge.

Several decades ago I met a retired sergeant of the 41st Byron Scottish who gave me his orginal issue badge, a standard Argyll and Sutherland. Apparently they used them in 1948 (when the regiment was re-started) before the later badge was struck. I still have it.

Hello Keith,

I am starting to put together a collection of the Australian 'metal' Trade/Proficiency Badge 1930-42 (but any early information would be good). I cannot seem to find anything definitive regarding the badges themselves. I have a few books showing the British versions. I have often seen badges described wrongly which causes confusion. I have a copy of Jeff's book on cloth insignia which is helpful but only goes so far. I have 100s of questions... If your happy to answer a few

Cheers
Marc
