Angry eB*y Giggle of the Week

This person appears to have confused St. Pats day with April Fools!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/78x-Vinta...7c86%7Ciid%3A1

A frame of mostly (only the RE, RAOC & ASC look ok to me) fakes for just £1,450 plus £45 P&P!!! The picture frame appears to be the most valuable item in the collection. And if the story of owning these badges over 20 years is true many would’ve been bought brand new.

Happy St. Patrick’s day to all.

Using the exact same boards that I do, they are 4.99.

The extraordinary feature of this listing is the fact the seller claims: "All the badges are correct and genuine, no restrikes".

However, working down his list there are 12 clearly identified, by the seller, as restrikes.

Hmmmmm.

Regards.

Brian

I’d noticed that too Brian . Didn’t bother to count his ‘restrikes’ though. 12 you say? He needs to keep going... and going... and going.

I have contacted the seller and have asked the following question:

Hello,

you say in the description that: "The collection has been collected, mounted and framed by me. I have owned this collection for over 20 years. Buy no-longer have any interest. You will find some valuable and rare badges amongst the collection. All the badges are correct and genuine, no restrikes. In fantastic condition.",

Yet, in the list you point out that at least 12 of the badges are restrikes. So are the restrikes genuine restrikes or fake restrikes?

Thank you.

I will let you know what the reply is but I expect that it may be short and to the point.

It looks like a very random 'collection', there's no order to the arrangement in the frame.

He does seem to have been a genuine, if misinformed, collector. Here is his reply to my loaded question.

Hi Simon.

I have just finished looking over the collection. I thought I only had genuine badges and no restrikes. The list I compiled many years ago as I collected the badges. I do have in fact approximately 15 badges that may be restrikes. The rest show age and wear. My apologies for leading up the garden path. I appreciate you highlighting my error as want to get it right. My bad. I have amended the collection accordingly. Hope this helps.

Regards

Alan

Sounds a reasonable response and seems to be a genuine lack of knowledge. Can’t see a change to the listing or price yet although perhaps he’s not had a chance to do so.

I do hope the price he is asking doesn’t reflect what he bought those badges for otherwise he’s been done over like a kipper and is sent to lose about £1,400.
